On the afternoon of March 25, the School of Foreign Languages held the work promotion meeting for supervisors of student innovation and entrepreneurship projects at Lecture Hall 2. The meeting was presided over by Dean Cao Ruonan, and was attended by Zhao Zhihou, the Secretary of the School’s Party Committee, Li Ming, Vice Dean, and all faculty members who intend to supervise student innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

At the meeting, Li Ming first introduced the overall participation of the school’s students in innovation and entrepreneurship projects in recent years, the achievements made, the competition procedures of relevant events, and the school’s supporting incentive policies, and elaborated on the important role of the student innovation and entrepreneurship projects in the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents and the innovation education system. From the perspective of integrating Party building work with professional work, Zhao Zhihou suggested that supervising teachers actively expand cross-school cooperation and integrate multidisciplinary resources to enhance project competitiveness. He also particularly emphasized that students should be guided to strictly abide by academic norms and resolutely put an end to academic misconduct.

In her concluding remarks, Cao Ruonan clarified the follow-up work arrangements. In early April, the school will launch the recruitment of project members for all postgraduate and undergraduate students, and teams will be formed through two-way selection between teachers and students. This mechanism aims to solve the previous problem of information asymmetry between teachers and students, enabling students to learn about teachers’ research directions in advance and teachers to recruit students who are genuinely interested in joining the team. Going forward, the school will hold information sessions at the beginning of each year to synchronize information between teachers and students, and promote the more professional and standardized development of student innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

This year, the school has further strengthened its support for innovation and entrepreneurship work, and the scale of the supervising teacher team has expanded significantly. The promotion meeting has systematically planned the goals and implementation paths of student innovation and entrepreneurship projects, marking the full launch of the innovation and entrepreneurship education work of the School of Foreign Languages for the new year.
